越後妻有大厳寺高原キャンプ場

Highland campground at 700 m on the slopes of Mt Amamizu in Matsunoyama, Tokamachi (Niigata), among beech woods, meadows and a pond. Open grassland tent sites plus cottages and bungalows, plentiful rental gear, and SUP, canoe and cycling activities; stunning autumn colours. Closed in winter when roads are snowbound.

Good to know

Golden Week camping is on residual snow: bring winter gear. Restaurant Kibokan closed Wednesdays. Avoid routes other than Route 353 / Matsunoyama Onsen entrance.

Access

Set your navigation to 'Matsunoyama Onsen' via Route 353; signs every 1 km from the onsen entrance. Hokuhoku Line to Matsudai, then about 15 min by car from Matsunoyama. Some roads closed in the snowmelt period (Apr-Jun).
