Small forest lodging in Yabakei, Nakatsu (Oita), renovated by a couple from a near-abandoned campground: treehouse, reading room, cafe, forest cabins and tent sites. Fully reservation-based, aimed at quiet stays; group bookings of several units are not accepted for general guests.

Good to know
Free showers 16:00-21:30; family bath 2,000 yen/45 min (3 groups a day). Stone pizza oven free for guests buying firewood (800 yen). Bring tableware and seasonings; cooking area has hot water.
Access
Nakatsu IC about 15 min, Hita IC about 50 min; Beppu/Yufuin about 70 min. JR Nakatsu Stn taxi 25 min, or bus to Shimosogi-iriguchi then 10 min uphill walk (few buses).
